Halloween on a Saturday-never a treat for restaurant sales

Halloween on a Saturday always hurts restaurant sales, as does any holiday. Whether it is a day like Halloween which will greatly decrease dinner traffic or a big day like Valentine's Day or New Year's Day, which bring out the more occasional diners, restaurants would prefer these dates fall on a slower day of the week instead of Friday or Saturday. The reason is simple; on Friday and Saturday the fish are already biting-meaning the restaurant is already at capacity and there is only so much room for a sales increase. Full is full. However, if Valentine's or another big day falls on a Tuesday there is a chance to double sales for that day. The same challenge to the upside exists to the downside when a day like Halloween falls on a Saturday. Many restaurants get 15-20% of a week's sales on Saturday. Having a sales day like that cut in half hurts more than a Tuesday which may represent 5-10% of weekly sales.
